British combat association residential course nov 2008

The BCA last weekend celebrated their 15 years at the very top of the uk martial arts scene, by holding their first residential weekend course at the prestigious venue of Lilleshill national sports centre of excellence near Telford.

Kevin was one of the invited guest instructors for the weekend. Kevin has been a senior instructor with the BCA from the early days and taught on one of their famed instructor courses back in 1996.It was a long overdue for him to come back again and to meet up with the founders, Peter Consterdine and Geoff Thompson. Also to meet up with other old friends such as Rick Young, Mo Teague, Alan Peasdale and many more.

Kevin and Peter C

Kevin taught the final session of the 4 day course on Sunday morning ably assisted by Jake O'Hagan and Soeli Devane.

Kevin put the 50 strong group through a shortened version of his gladiator total body workout. There were a few pale faces after this.

He then moved on to focus pad workout, combining this with takedowns. The double leg takedown was covered in-depth.

Next were takedown defences and then standing and floor chokes and strangles.

Kevin referencesthis to his mma experiences and how to adapt these lessons to the street. He emphasised that strangles and chokes were the fastest grappling finishers in any arena.

The assembled group took to the training with 100% and the mat was buzzing.comittment.

Soeli one of the few of Kevin’s female instructors then demonstrated how to punch the pads with a blistering display of power punching. As they say don’t judge a book by its cover. Peter C was the first to start off a rousing round of applauses from all present.

The 21/2 hours flew by, not only did the techniques go now well but also the banter between father and son. Jake worked extremely well with Kevin. A Q&A session ended the morning with photos and signings after.

Peter and Geoff where highly complementary of Kevin’s teaching and abilities and also his high level of fitness. It was a great weekend and hopefully there will be more in the near future...

Peter Consterdine endorses Kevin's 'Gladiator Total Body Workout'

In the Bristish Combat Asssociations recent Impact newsletter Peter had this to say about the Gladiator Workout:

"I consider myself a very hard trainer and won't ever turn down a challenege for a hard session, but I would have to be at my very best to take on Combat Jujutsu's Kevin O'Hagan's Gladiator Workout.

This combat conditioning workout will, I know, push you to your physical and menatl boundaries. There is no-one I know who has Kevin's dedication to achieving a professional fighter level of combat fitness.

The Gladiator workout needs no equipment and is totally a body weight and cardiovascualr routine and the 5 components addressed in the workout are Cardio, Muscular strength, Muscualr endurance, Flexibility and Mobility. It's tough and uncompromising, but if you are serious about your martial arts and competitive edge, this is for you.

As a cage fighter veteran, martial artist and defensive tactics instructor, Kevin, is sharing what HE DOES - not what he's seen others do - He's The Real Deal!"
