Essence of Combat Jujutsu

Combat Jujutsu's roots lie in the ancient battlefield arts of the Japanese Samurai warriors. The art then and now is practised as a close quarter combat system of personal defence. The art today has ties to the Kodai Ryu and Goshin Ryu systems which are modern day Jujutsu arts.

It blends Goshin Ryu/Goshin Kai and Goshin Wai arts with highly effective close quarter military combat skills.

This branch of Combat Jujutsu has no sporting applications; it is trained for street self defence and indeed personal defence for security personnel.

This Jujutsu systems core is based on Atemi Waza (striking vital points) over the grappling side which figures highly in many of today's other Jujutsu styles. The motto being 'learn to fight on the floor, but don't go to the floor to fight.' There is no 'tap out' on the street. The dangers are real. Dealing with confrontational violence, multiple attacks and weapons.

Grappling becomes a support system to back up fast, ballistic strikes, elbows, knees, headbutts and kicks.

There is a grading system to follow and it addresses all aspects of physical and psychological combat.

Kevin O'Hagan the systems chief instructor in Bristol and the South West, holds a 6th Dan Masters grade in Combat Jujutsu and has trained in Martial Arts for 30 years at present. He is a well known and respected figure in this field and is highly regarded for his 'real world' experience in the fighting arts.
